Bursting with Passion

Busy after a long day? Important family obligations? Not in the mood to cook? Wouldn't it be nice to have a fridge full of food ready to go? --and no, I'm not referring to that stuff packaged in pretty boxes that you zap in the microwave and tastes like the box it came in. I'm talking about fresh, homemade food made right in your home, except you didn't have to deal with the shopping, OR the chopping, OR the packaging, or even the cleanup! You may want to cook for you and your family but you simply don't have time.
I enjoy dedicating time and making great food for others. I also offer private lessons, if you'd like to do it yourself.

There's always something interesting to learn about the food we eat. Got an interesting food fact? share it with me!
Food fact of the month:
Tomatoes (part of the nightshade family) were also known as "love apples" by the end of the 16th century, but were only used as ornamental plants. They were thought to be poisonous and large-scale consumption only came in Europe during the middle of the 19th century. The highest concentration of vitamin C in the fruit is found in the jellylike material surrounding the seeds.

I'm Sandy Stollar – and this is my story.
As a graduate of Culinary Institute of America, I’ve spent the past 9 years cooking in places all over NYC. Some include the Russian Tea Room, Osteria del Circo [the Maccioni family] and Levana Restaurant. I feel privileged to have worked with great chefs such as Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Gray Kunz, and Cornelius Gallagher.
The Kosher Tomato started in an effort to take care of people through food on a more personal level. The name of my business derived from the distinct love and passion I have for food. I even get excited about tomatoes! My approach to cooking is pretty ‘out-of-the-box’ and I believe in the concept of cooking above all. Allow me to introduce you to my world!
